Message from Mr. Kitazawa
Greetings. My name is Tsuyoshi Kitazawa, the Tokyo International Youth Football Ambassador.
As we celebrate Golden Week, what can epitomize its name better than the Tokyo International Youth Football Tournament?
All of the strong boys participating from countries around the world will become rivals on the pitch and engage in fierce battles. And when they take a step off the pitch, they will engage in social exchanges as friends.
I welcome all of you to come and see this worldview at the Tokyo International Youth Tournament.
Right now, Japan’s national team is fighting hard to make it to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
In 2011, Nadeshiko Japan won the World Cup. The next year, they won silver in the 2012 Olympics. The Japan national youth soccer team placed 2nd in international tournament. These achievements have brought us the palpable joy of sports.
This year, we are waiting with excitement at the possibility of hosting the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
The 2013 Tokyo International Youth Tournament will foster friendship that transcends differences in language and culture through sports exchange. The players’ consciousness as athletes even in their junior high-school years will send a message of “directness” and “purity” to everyone.
I want you to receive the power of sports from these players, who range from boys to young men. I wish you will be able to feel firsthand the vitality of these young men who bear responsibility for the future.
I thank you for your warm support of this international tournament, which the people of Tokyo are proud of.
Tsuyoshi Kitazawa
Tokyo International Youth Ambassador
