TOKYO TRAINING CENTER SELECTED TEAM

This selected team is made up mainly of Tokyo training center players chosen from Mitsubishi Yowa Junior Youth (Chofu/Sugamo), FC Tama Junior Youth, AZ’86 Tokyo-Ome, and other club teams registered with the Tokyo Football Association. They commented, “We want to use our pride at being a team representing the host city Tokyo to maximize individual strengths and potential. With the home team advantage and support, we hope to play in a way that fulfills fans’ expectations.”

TOKYO TRAINING CENTER SELECTED TEAM

TOKYO JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL PHYSICAL CULTURE ASSOCIATION SELECTED TEAM

This selected team is made up of players chosen from junior high schools belonging to the Tokyo Junior High School Athletics Federation. It consists of players picked from the 11 supporting clubs divided into five districts. Last year, its first appearance in four years, it finished a disappointing 19th, so this year it seeks a higher finish with the determination to “play as a united team to have a big impact on the tournament.”

TOKYO TRAINING CENTER SELECTED TEAM

F.C.TOKYO

FC Tokyo is a combination of FC Tokyo Musashi and FC Tokyo Fukagawa. Managed by FC Tokyo legend Yukihiko Sato and coached by Ryuji Fujiyama, its players display great individual ability each year and last year it reached the semifinals, the first in a long time for a Japanese team. It narrowly lost to Boca Juniors on penalties but came within a hair of defeating a champion. This year, of course, it seeks to achieve the first-place finish it could not last year.

F.C.TOKYO

TOKYO VERDY

The junior team of Tokyo Verdi in the J2 League, Tokyo Verdi is characterized by its large number of players with excellent footwork, and its long rivalry with FC Tokyo in the same city. They commented, "As a club that calls Tokyo home, we aim to become able to compete against the world." Interestingly, the team that won the tournament in 2010 included current Japan national team member Kento Misao (Kashima Antlers).

TOKYO VERDY

FC MACHIDA ZELVIA

This is the first appearance of the academy of J2 League team FC Machida Zelvia in this tournament. The history of the club dates back to an elementary school team in Machida, called FC Machida, that began in 1977. The junior team was organized in 1985 and has since come second in the Japan Club Youth Football Championship twice and third in the Prince Takamado Cup. They commented, "It's our first time in this tournament but we look forward to facing strong teams from all around the world. We aim to win with our technique and ideas."
